LONDON
Hon. Ganiu Savage- : - President’s Trophy Award
He is nominated because of his commitment since the day the Association was inaugurated. Hon. Savage was one of the foundation members of the Association since 2002. He was nominated to lead the Association until 2005 when he was formerly elected. He led the Association until 2009. During all this period of his leadership as the President of the Association Hon. Savage was also assisting other officers in their various duties.
He contributed immensely to the formation, sustenance and survival of Eko Club London in a great way. He demonstrated what we called participative (democratic) and transformational styles of leadership. Being the First President of the Chapter, and for Eight years, he led us through our teething and tumultuous periods, and thank goodness God, we survived all the trial periods. He encourages integrity; helps people to see beyond their self-interests and focus more on team interests and needs; provides stimulating work; set good examples with probity and transparency; invited members to contribute and participated in the decision making process; spent his time, money, property, skills, knowledge and wealth of experience for the sustenance and survival of our chapter.
He was the main advocate for the chapter joining the ECI. Many times, he would organize seminar within the general meetings to educate members towards the benefits of our membership of ECI. He has represented our chapter and participated in 2 ECI Conventions, as well in Lagos many times, without recourse to the Club funds – (These are on the International fronts). Hence, we the entire members of Eko Club London, deemed fit to nominate him for this Award.
During his leadership, the Association was able to complete its 2009 project at the King Ado School, Lagos. The Project was commissioned in August 2009, by a representative of the Deputy Governor and 8 traditional Chiefs. He has always been in credit with his yearly subscriptions.
Hon Savage has served the club with passion, dedication and total commitment. He has never shirked from his responsibility and the welfare of members is paramount to him. Because of costs we have organized several general meetings and end of the year party at his residence.
Hon Savage is regarded as the rock of our chapter for a very long time and all members of the Association deem they are indebted to him for all his services. As a great leader with vision many of our members have learn so much from his good leadership quality.

RHODE ISLAND
Hon. Alhaji Olajide Danmola- President’s Trophy Award
Hon Danmola joined the club a little over a year ago and has been a great contributor to the club’s activities. Currently, he is the Asst secretary and also acts as the asst PRO because of his versatility when we saw a need to boost / assist the PRO due to his job commitment.
Our meetings are held rotationally at members’ houses on their birthday month and in this year alone Hon Danmola has hosted meetings at least 3x when other members were not able to host the meetings.
He has contributed useful ideas to the club and actually developed those ideas. He suggested that we should start a facebook page instead of a website due to cost of construction and maintenance and we asked him to do the page which he did to publicize our activities.
He has stood in a few times to assist the secretary to take minutes when the secretary was absent due to work exigencies prior to his being appointed as Assistant Secretary.
He has brought in useful contributions and suggestions to our community outreach projects that we did in September and was instrumental to making our donation to a homeless shelter/soup kitchen a success. He coordinated food donations from members and non members, his house was used for the storage of the items and he brought the donations to the shelter.
When he joined the club last year, he brought in his very close friend and his brother to join the club and he has been motivating them to participate vigorously in our activities.
Incidentally, at this present time, he is in Lagos for his own personal visit, but due to some suggestions that we both worked on for community programs/projects for Rhode Island and Lagos in 2011 and 2012, I have sent him to the Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture for collaborative efforts and also some schools in Lagos.
He has been calling me on a daily basis to update me. Considering the fact that he was going for only 10 days to visit his family, you all we agree that it takes dedication and commitment to combine your family visit and club activities especially when you have a tight schedule.
It is in light of the above that I nominate Hon Olajide Danmola for this award. This is one of the few scenarios that supports the maxim “it is not how long (you joined the club), but how well (you worked and served it).Hon Danmola has impacted the club in his short time of joining the club.

Hon. Lateef Animashaun - Member of the Quarter Award
The entire members of Dallas Chapter proudly present Hon. Lateef Animashaun as its nominee for the ECI Member of the Quarter Award for the following reasons:
1. Hon. Lateef Animashaun is a “servant” in the true and political sense of the word. Hon. Lateef epitomizes the service tenets of “humility” “openness” “kindness” and “mutual respect” in the service of others. When it comes to service rendering, both at the personal, club or humanitarian level, Hon. Lateef Animashaun is second to none. He has served Dallas Chapter in the following capacities:
a. General Secretary (Under the administration of Hon. Bissy Gaji)
b Treasurer (Under the administration of President Bissy Gaji)
c. Financial Secretary (two-times Financial Secretary under the administration of both President Bissy Gaji and President Rasheed Giwa)
2. Hon. Lateef Animashaun has served ECI in the following capacities
a. Chairman, Lagos Committee (Under the administration of President (Otunba) T.J. Abass)
3. Hon. Lateef Animashaun remained the only member of Dallas Chapter awarded both a honorary plaque and monetary prize for being the Chapter’s Most Valued Member of The Year 2009
4. Hon. Lateef Animashaun, due to his kind and considerate nature and his attention to details was two-time Chairman of Dallas Social Committee, a position that was crucial to the successful execution of the ECI convention held in Dallas .
5. Honorable Lateef Animashaun has over the years exemplified the qualities of a selfless and altruistic individual who will place the pleasures and satisfaction of others above his own.
Please allow us to illustrate:
A. Hon. Lateef Animashaun once unilaterally and single-handedly embarked on a fund-raising campaign to provide a wheelchair, food and accommodation to a lady here in DFW (name withheld) who was unable to meet these basic needs. Hon. Lateef did not only raise enough money to meet these needs, he had to drive to Houston at one point to physically pick up the wheelchair himself.
B. Again, here in DFW, Hon. Lateef heard about this Lagosian that is living off the streets of Dallas (name withheld) that had no accommodation, no state ID, no traveling passport and no source of income or livelihood whatsoever. Without any motivation of personal gain or recognition, Hon. Lateef went looking for this guy, clothed and groomed him with his own money and later took him around Nigerian organizations and churches to reestablish him into the society. Today, it is a thing of pride for us to say that that guy is now well-situated with his own I.D, his own accommodation and a job to boot.
C. Most ECI members would know this one. It was right around the time people were getting ready for another Medical Mission to Nigeria and all chapters were being asked to donate in cash or in kind for that particular year’s Mission. Hon. Lateef Animashaun was able to convince the Dallas Chamber of Commerce to divert a rather large consignment of school uniforms the Chamber was then contemplating to send to Nicaragua ; to Houston ; to complement the Mission ’s effort as part of Dallas ’ contributions. However, due to some logistic miscalculation, the consignment ended up in Atlanta rather than in Houston where it is being expected. The question then arose: how would the consignment get to Houston from Atlanta? Characteristically, Hon. Lateef Animashaun volunteered. Using his personal money to fund the trip, he drove his cargo-van to Atlanta and hauled the consignment from there to Houston Alone.
These are but few illustrations.
There are other instances of Hon. Lateef’s magnanimity known to members of Eko Club Dallas and to others at large; including some ECI members who had had similar altruistic experiences with him. Most have concluded that it is not just his readiness and wiliness to serve that is remarkable, it is the humane and kind manner in which he serves that makes him unique. His is not a need for “recognition” or for “power”. No. Hon. Lateef Animashaun is, simply, the “…go to” guy. He is utterly selfless and utterly dependable and does not have a single bone of haughtiness or self-glorification in his body.
That is why here in Dallas when we have that unbelievable tire-flat, when small and even big tragedies strike unexpectedly, when we are stranded at the airports or at a function with no one to call, when our parents or siblings ask us who we can recommend to lend a helping hand with no motive for remuneration or personal gain, we all turn to only one person – Hon. Lateef Animashaun.
Please vote for him as your ECI MEMBER OF THE QUARTER
